Zhvanets is located near Kamenetz-Podolsk. It is an old city founded in 1431.

The village Zhvanets albeit small, but has a very interesting history. Here, in the early 17th century, the castle was built. Valentiy Kalinowski lived there, who was the elder of Kamenetz-Podolsk.\

Nowadays, the greatness Zhvanets castle is almost nothing like, because there remains only a small part of one wall. This castle served as a great hiding place for the local rulers. It consisted of six towers, and the lock on the perimeter was surrounded by a deep moat.

The castle was rebuilt several times, architecture towers and also the walls of the courtyard were changed.

During Hotinsky War the castle was damaged, but it was rebuilt by Stanislav Lyantskoronsky, who was the husband of sister Valentia Kalinowski, who, as already mentioned, was the founder of the castle. When the castle was completely destroyed by Jan III Sobieski in 1684, Zhvanets lost its value as a strategic asset and, therefore, the life here has stopped.

Although Zhvanets fortress was destroyed, many tourists come here, especially those who have already visited an excursion in Kamenetz-Podolsk, and wants to see more attractions of this region.
