Crystal Cave is the largest gypsum cave in Europe. It is on the outskirts of the village Kryvche, that is in the Ternopil region. This cave is the most researched cave that has been used since 1721. Crystal Cave takes its name from the fact that gypsum in the cave is not white, but it is dark brown, and it glitters like crystal.
Before 1961, this cave was closed, but organized by the Academy of Sciences expedition rediscovered the entrance to the cave, and now everyone can come inside the cave and visit Crystal Cave in Kryvche.
Lenght of the cave is 23 kilometers. Regardless of the time of year, the temperature in the cave is 10-12 degrees and the humidity is 95%.
Every year archaeologists, doctors, cavers, paleontologists and other researchers come here and open new enters and explore the cave environment. The main feature of the Crystal Caves in the village Kryvche – complete absence of pathogens, i.e bacteria. It is also proved that the cave is characterized by elevated levels of ionization of air and water.
